a jar.

Zane Caplansky took the deli's mustard as seriously as the smoked meat. Four flavors, milled in small batches by hand. Now they come in a jar you get to keep.

He made everything
by hand. Still does.

In 2008, Zane Caplansky opened a deli, built on the search for a great smoked-meat sandwich. The meat, the pickles, the rye, and the mustard were all made in-house, all by hand. People came for the meat and kept asking about the mustard.

So he put it in a jar. Same recipe, same hands, now sitting on your table instead of his counter.

Before you ask

The label, expanded.

What makes it different from grocery-store mustard?

It is made in small batches by hand, born in a real Toronto deli. Clean label, no fillers, and four flavors that each actually taste like something.

How is it made?

Slow, in small batches, by hand. We mill the mustard seed carefully rather than running it through a factory line. Ballpark is just seven ingredients.

Can I mix and match flavors?

Yes. Choose a Box of 2 ($20) or Box of 4 ($36) and fill it with any combination of the four flavors.

Is it vegan, kosher, and gluten-free?

All four are all-natural, vegan, kosher, and gluten-free. Made in Canada.

Has it won anything?

Yes. Our Spicy and Horseradish mustards have won Silver at the World-Wide Mustard Competition, and our Old Fashioned took Bronze in 2024.

How should I store it?

Keep it in a cool spot, and refrigerate after opening. Then use it like you mean it.
